King Mohammed VI has vowed to continue the development of the Royal Armed Forces’ defensive capacities, and praised their immediate and proactive interventions on the ground to address the floods that affected the western and northern regions of the Kingdom last winter.

This came in the Order of the Day the King, Supreme Commander and Chief of General Staff of the FAR, addressed on Thursday to officers, non-commissioned officers, and privates on the 70th anniversary of the creation of the FAR.

The Monarch pointed out that the development of the army’s defensive capacities is a top priority and among the essential pillars of the strategy he had adopted to modernize and restructure the military system, explaining that this strategy focuses on safeguarding achievements and supporting the ongoing momentum experienced by all components of the Royal Armed Forces. “The objective is to enhance their performance and improve their interoperability so they are always ready to meet any challenge with insight, efficiency, and professionalism,” the King stated.

The Monarch also stressed the necessity to continue working toward the implementation of modern scientific programs that have been adopted, with a focus on comprehensive projects in the fields of scientific, applied, and technical research, artificial intelligence, digitization, and cybersecurity—efforts that will bring about a qualitative shift within the Royal Armed Forces, developed human resources and enhanced professional capabilities, through developing and updating training, internship, and mentoring programs.

“With regard to partnerships, I will remain committed to the Royal Armed Forces’ participation in international efforts to promote regional and global stability and security, particularly through strengthening joint and multilateral cooperation, which will reinforce the trust, respect, and credibility enjoyed by our Army among our brothers, partners, and friends,” the Monarch pointed out in the Order of the Day.

At the national level, the King commended the active and central role that the FAR have taken on since their creation in securing and protecting the Kingdom’s land, sea, and air borders, as well as their commitment to contributing to rescue and relief operations, providing care and aid to affected populations, whenever necessary.

In this connection, King Mohammed VI hailed the army’s immediate and proactive interventions on the ground to address the floods that have affected the western and northern regions of the Kingdom, alongside civil and local authorities and relevant public institutions. These interventions have contributed to the rescue and evacuation of those affected, while meeting their needs for shelter, food, and medical care, in addition to protecting their property, said the Monarch who also hailed the laudable efforts of the medical and paramedical teams operating in the military field hospitals and military logistics units, which were deployed to some remote and mountainous areas in response to the consequences of adverse weather conditions.

The King also highlighted the outstanding achievements of the military service, which plays a major role in bolstering the spirit of citizenship and belonging to the Homeland, while instilling the values of solidarity, mutual aid, discipline, and responsibility in Moroccan youth.

“In this regard, I have worked to adopt a comprehensive approach, based on the modernization of teaching, supervision, and training methods, while strengthening partnerships with public administrations and institutions, in order to develop the skills required of conscripts in new technical specializations that meet our country’s current professional needs and expectations in areas of vocational training and employment,” the Monarch stated further before mentioning the health and social benefits granted to the Moroccan military.

In this veing, he said that he has instructed the Military Housing and Facilities Agency to launch an additional program comprising 60,000 housing units, to be completed over a five-year period at a rate of 12,000 units per year, to enable the army members to obtain housing that meets their aspirations and needs.
