Egypt: Mobile Devices Manufacturing Surges in 2025

Egypt produced more than 10 million mobile devices in 2025, up sharply from 3.3 million units in 2024. The expansion reflects Egypt’s growing attractiveness to international manufacturers, with local components now accounting for more than 40 per cent of production.

The remarks were made On Sunday, 28 December 2025, by Communications and Information Technology Minister, Amr Talaat, during a meeting with members of the newly restructured Telecommunications Industry Committee of the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority. The meeting reviewed progress and forward priorities for the communications and information technology sector.

Talaat said the sector has recorded Egypt’s highest growth rates for the seventh consecutive year, ranging between 14 and 16 per cent, and now contributes around six per cent to gross domestic product.

He noted that 55 agreements were signed with international and local companies during the Global Outsourcing Summit held in Cairo in November 2025, a move expected to create about 75,000 jobs. Digital exports have increased by 124 per cent over the past seven years to reach $7.4 billion, while outsourcing exports have doubled in three years and are projected to reach $4.8 billion by 2025.

Talaat also highlighted Egypt’s progress in digital governance, with the country advancing 47 places to rank 22nd globally in the World Bank’s 2025 Digital Government Maturity Index. He added that Egypt continues to strengthen cybersecurity cooperation while rolling out new services, including fifth-generation networks, Internet of Things applications for vehicles, WiFi calling and eSIM technology.
