BlueBird Aero Systems Ltd., a subsidiary of Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) group & a world leader in the manufacturing of tactical drones, has trained Moroccan engineers in preparation for the launch of SpyX drone production plant in the North African Kingdom.
On its official LinkedIn page, the Israeli company said that it hosted a team of Moroccan engineers and technicians for an in-depth training session on UAV production process. Part of a technology transfer (TOT) program, the training included high-tech sharing on the manufacturing process of the kamikaze Spy-X drone, a tactical system with small logistic footprint.
The cutting-edge Loitering Munition UAV platform is easily transportable and deployed by a crew of two soldiers, enabling them to conduct an automatic launch, navigate along pre-planned waypoints, arm and disarm the system, manually select the target, command guided attack, abort or wave-off during an attack and renew mission.
With a 50-km operational range and 2h autonomous mission time, SpyX warheads weigh up to 2.5 kg such as Anti-Personnel and light vehicles (A/P) and Anti-Tanks (A/T), while its attack speed of 250 km ensures efficient engagement of targets.
This project will help create skilled jobs in Morocco, attract more foreign investment, and enable Moroccan engineers to acquire advanced skills. It is also part of Morocco’s push to modernize its defense capabilities and encourage scientific research, innovation and cutting edge technologies.
