Morocco and Mauritania signed an agreement to deepen industrial cooperation in the metallurgy, mechanical, and electromechanical sectors.
The deal was signed in Nouakchott on Wednesday by Abdelhamid Souiri, President of the Moroccan Federation of Metallurgical, Mechanical and Electromechanical Industries (FIMME), and Nagi Ichidou, President of the Mauritanian Federation of Industry, Mines and Energy (FIME). It aims to promote skill and knowledge transfer, improve compliance with industry standards, and boost trade and investment between the two countries.
The agreement was concluded on the sidelines of a joint study day focused on strengthening cooperation in the industrial and energy sectors.
Mauritania’s Minister of Mines and Industry, Atiam Tijani, welcomed the partnership as a step toward closer private-sector collaboration, aligned with the directives of King Mohammed VI and President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani.
Rachid Bahi, Director of Industrial Activities at Morocco’s Ministry of Industry and Trade, said the event provided an opportunity for stakeholders to identify joint investment opportunities and advance industrial development.
Organizers described the meeting as a strategic platform for building sustainable partnerships that create value and drive regional development across key industrial sectors.
