Cape Independence gives South Africa taste of its own separatism medicine

The Cape independence advocacy group (CIAG) is preparing a visit to the US to lobby for its cause, giving the South African government the bitter taste of separatism that it has been encouraging elsewhere in Africa.

The new Trump administration has sacked Pretoria’s ambassador, cut aid to South Africa, and condemned anti-white policies.

The CIAG seeks to meet US officials to win support for their quest to have an independent state in the Cape area.

The CIAG’s push for independence is driven by the perceived failures of the national government to address the needs of the Western Cape. They argue that the Western Cape should be governed by the party its residents voted for.

As South Africa feels the heat of separatism at home, it continues its double speak by backing the Algeria-backed Polisario militias to create a separatist entity in Morocco’s Sahara provinces.
