Morocco’s CIMAF builds cement plant in Burkina Faso

Moroccan cement producer CIMAF has launched works to build a plant in Burkina Faso that will be powered by solar power.

The inauguration ceremony was chaired by Burkina Faso’s President Ibrahim Traore and CIMAF chief Anas Safrioui.

Production will rely on locally sourced calcined clay as an alternative raw material to traditional clinker. The plant is expected to start production in two years at a capacity of 900 tons of cement daily.

The new investment brings CIMAF total investments in Burkina Faso to 130 million euros.

The plant would meet the cement needs of Burkina Faso and cut hard currency spent on imports of this vital construction material.
