Moroccan government expects 4.6% growth in 2025

The Moroccan government is preparing the 2025 budget based on expectations of an economic growth at 4.6% and a budget deficit of 3% of GDP, as it continues to attach priority to social safety nets, investments and employment.

This came in the directive of the head of the government regarding the priorities of next year’s budget, which also aims at lowering public debt to below 70% of GDP.

The government plans to press ahead with the generalization of health coverage as well as the health sector reform, which includes building new university hospitals across the Kingdom.

The goal is to reach 25 medicas per 10,000 by 2026 and 45 per 10,000 by 2030, the note said.

Financial assistance to needy households would increase to 2.6 billion dollars in 2025, it said.

The same year, Morocco plans to generalize the pension system and unemployment allowance.

Morocco also plans to open 4000 new schools next year as it also presses ahead with the education reform.

Subsidies would stand at 1.6 billion dollars, targeting cooking gas, bread and sugar.

The government also plans to encourage private investment to grow from a third of overall investments currently to two thirds by 2035.
