Artificial Intelligence: U.S. firm Iozera to Invest $500 Mln in Data-center and AI Hub in Morocco
U.S.-based tech startup company Iozera has announced plans to set up a 386MW Data Center and artificial intelligence hub in the northern Moroccan city of Tetouan.
The $500 million project will operate with renewable energies thanks to Morocco’s leadership in the sector. Iozera says it is designed to democratize access to advanced AI computing resources, enhancing availability of GPU-based processing for researchers, startups, and businesses in the United states, Morocco and globally.
Graphics processing unit (GPU), a specialized processor originally designed to accelerate graphics rendering. GPUs can process many pieces of data simultaneously, making them useful for machine learning, video editing, and gaming applications.
According to Iozera, the project will include facilities designed for advanced AI computation and traditional data storage, attracting leading tech companies and researchers from around the world.
It will also include units focusing on AI training, data management, labeling, and annotating, creating employment opportunities while also pioneering secure AI training/modeling in addition to an education & incubation center for startups and local Moroccan employment.
This ambitious project has been announced on the sidelines of a North American roadshow organized by the Moroccan government to promote business opportunities offered in the Kingdom.
