Netherlands poised to invest more in Tunisia (Mark Rutte)
Netherlands’ Prime Minister Mark Rutte indicated Monday June 26 that the European country is keen to pump more investments in Tunisia, chiefly into renewable energy and water sectors.
Rutte held a telephone conversation with President Kais Saied. The Tunisian leader on the other hands expressed the desire to see both countries giving new momentum to their relations, hand in hand and in win-win manner.
Amsterdam’s desire to invest more in Tunisia comes as Tunis is facing economic slowdown and needs additional funds to support its economy and national budget.
Talks for a $1.9 billion bailout from the International Monetary Fund (IFM) have hit a roadblock as President Saied refuses to accept loan conditions that he deems cross the redline – taking away the country’s sovereignty.
