Gabon to hold general elections on August 26?

Gabonese will head to polls on August 26 to elect a new leader, parliamentarians and mayors after the country’s Elections council (CGE) announced the date Sunday.
The CGE, “Gabon Review” reports, held a meeting Sunday and proposed the date that awaits the government’s rubber-stamp. The Council proposed a timeline that breaks as follow: Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at 6 p.m.: deadline for filling candidacies for all elections; Friday, August 11, 2023 at 00:00: launch of the electoral campaign for the single round of the presidential election; Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at 00:00: opening of the electoral campaign for the single round of legislative and local elections; Friday, August 25, 2023 at midnight: close of campaigning for all elections. And Saturday, August 26, 2023 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.: convocation of the electoral college for all elections.
The cabinet of President Ali Bongo is set to meet today Monday to discuss the timetable.
