Pan-African Parliament delegation visits Tanger Med Port Complex

A delegation of the Pan-African Parliament (PAP) on Sunday visited the Tanger Med port complex.

The delegation, led by PAP President Charumbira Fortune Zephania, includes several senior members of the Pan-African Parliament.

The visit was an opportunity to get informed about the main projects launched in Morocco, in particular the Tanger Med port complex, and also to highlight the importance of port infrastructures in international trade.

During this visit, the parliamentary delegation heard explanations on the facilities and organization of the port and its role as a key global logistical gateway and an example of integration into global trade.

Tanger Med, which plays an essential role as a transshipment hub, has been ranked as the first port in Africa for five years and as the first port in the Mediterranean for 2 years.

“Thanks to its modern infrastructure and sophisticated technology, the Tanger-Med port has become one of the pioneering maritime platforms in the world,” the head of the delegation, Fortune Zephania commented, calling on Morocco to share its “unprecedented experience” in this area with other African countries. Through the Tanger-Med port, Morocco has proven that “Africa can take the lead and develop by itself,” he noted.

The PAP delegation is on an official visit to Morocco from September 24 to 27 at the invitation of the Moroccan Parliament.
