Morocco, Saudi Arabia, an enduring partnership

Morocco and Saudi Arabia have once again underscored the strength characterizing their multilayered ties, voicing commitment to further bolster bilateral cooperation at the economic level.

This came during the meeting of the joint commission, the first in nine years, co-chaired by Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita and Saudi peer Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud.

The two pillars of stability in the Arab World both stressed the enduring character of their ties, evidenced by steadfast solidarity and coordination between the two countries at international fora.

In this respect, head of Saudi diplomacy reiterated his position in support of Morocco’s territorial sovereignty as the two countries campaign to raise awareness globally about the nexus between separatism and terrorism, according to a joint statement issued following the meeting.

“This meeting confirms the depth of relations between the two countries and it is an occasion to seize the great opportunities that exist in order to strengthen coordination and bilateral cooperation, especially in the economic, energy, digital economy, industry and mineral wealth,” Prince Faisal Bin Farhan said at a joint press briefing following his talks with Minister of Foreign Affairs Nasser Bourita.

He said the two countries will shortly sign deals to materialize their willingness to usher new areas in bilateral cooperation, stressing the convergence of views on an array of international issues related to regional peace and stability.

Morocco’s foreign minister stressed the need to step up economic cooperation and Saudi investments to match the excellent level of political ties between the two countries.

He said Morocco will continue to defend the stability of Saudi Arabia and the measures it has taken to safeguard the security of its citizens.

Morocco has in the past stood with Saudi Arabia against the destabilization schemes of Iran in the region.
