Libya: a move towards the right direction

Libya has decided to reunite with its past after the General National Congress approved a draft submitted by Prime Minister Zeidan to abrogate the law that forced the Royal Senussi family that Colonel Gaddafi overthrew into exile. The decision has been hailed as a move towards the right direction.
According to the draft which was approved by the GNC, the family of the late King Idris Al-Senussi will be officially rehabilitated in the country. Shortly after Ghadaffi ended the rule of the King Idris, he quickly forced him out of the country. He later died in Egypt in 1983 while living in neighboring Egypt as a king.
The Libyan government’s decree restores the citizenship of Senussi’s relatives and paves the way for the return of his confiscated property to his family.  Family members of the Senussi’s are all living abroad and living as political asylum seekers. Mohammad Al-Senussi should have the heir to the throne if their reign continued. However, he continues to consider himself as the self-proclaimed Libyan crown prince. Talks about bringing over the remains of King Idris from Egypt to Cairo have not been dwelled on.
Libyan officials have also not commented on the status of the crowned prince nor the benefits the family will be enjoying if they decided to come over.
In 2011, Mohammed Al-Senussi praised those who stood against the Gaddafi regime. He described the flags that Libyans were brandishing “is the banner of freedom” and a “gesture” cherished by everyone. He stated that the flag which was used when the country was a kingdom has been once again “reunited” with Libya and a “symbol of the youth’s uprising.”
Gaddafi rose to power in 1969 and ruled for four decades before being toppled in 2011.
