Moroccan Court Confirms Death Penalty for killers of two Scandinavian Hikers

A Moroccan Appeals court has confirmed the death sentence announced against the three men who killed last year two Scandinavian tourists in the Atlas Mountains.

The anti-terrorist court in the city of Salé (near Rabat) upheld the death penalty announced against the three killers who had pleaded guilty to the murder of Louisa Vesterager Jespersen, a 24-year-old Danish student, and her Norwegian friend, Maren Ueland, 28.

The court also handed capital punishment to a fourth man who was originally sentenced to life imprisonment for his involvement in this horrible crime.

The four had pledged allegiance to the extremist terror group “Islamic State” in a video shot few days before committing their heinous act. The killing of the two Scandinavian tourists sent shockwaves across the country and trigged unprecedented chain of solidarity with the families of the victims.

The murder of the two backpackers was condemned by all components of Moroccan society, including Govt officials, political parties, artists, sportsmen, local communities, academics…

Moroccan authorities captured quickly the killers involved directly in the appalling double murder.

Investigators believe the main defendants acted on their own initiative, despite their allegiance to the ISIS terror group.
