Erasmus+: Over 2,800 Scholarships Granted for Higher Education in Morocco

Since 2014, more than 2,800 scholarships have been awarded by the European Union to Moroccan higher education institutions within the frame of the EU Erasmus+ program which supports education, training, youth and sport in Europe.

Erasmus+ funds academic mobility and cooperation projects with partner countries. It has enabled Moroccan students to learn different teaching systems, foreign languages, and others cultures.

“In a world marked by self-centrism, Erasmus+ program continues to support and promote universal shared values”, said EU Ambassador to Morocco Claudia Wiedey, while receiving lately in Rabat personalities from Moroccan higher education sector and European Union.

The Erasmus program was launched in 1989 to enable European students pursue their academic studies in other universities of the EU member countries. It gradually opened up to other partner countries, including Morocco.

Erasmus+ supports Europe 2020 strategy for growth, jobs, social equity and inclusion. It also aims to promote the sustainable development of its partners in the field of higher education. It seeks to reduce unemployment among young people, promote adult learning, especially in new skills and skills required by the labor market.

The program encourages young people to take part in European democracy, supports innovation, and encourages cooperation and mobility with the EU’s partner countries
