US Nano PV Global to Open Solar Panel Factory in Tangier
US company specializing in solar power technology, Nano PV Global, will launch by the end of the year a project worth 2 billion dirhams to manufacture solar panels.
The new factory will be producing photovoltaic panels and will create 660 direct jobs, Moroccan daily L’Economiste reports.
The paper, quoting the regional investment promotion center, says this new solar panel production plant will help supply a promising Moroccan market by offering sustainable state-of-the-art solar technology.
Tangier was chosen by the US company as a location for its future plant in light of its strategic location and logistical assets, notably its proximity to Tangier Med airport that will help facilitate the company’s exports.
This project boosts the attractiveness of the region of Tangier as a hub for renewable energy industries. Last March, Siemens announced the upcoming setting up of a factory for a total investment of €100 million in Tangier to manufacture rotor blades for onshore wind turbines, creating up to 700 jobs.
