King Relieves Madiha Khayr of Governmental Position at request of Head of Government

King Mohammed VI received a request from the Head of Government to relieve Madiha Khayr of her duties as Minister Delegate in Charge of Professional Training and Qualification, the Royal Office announced Sunday in a statement.

The King has approved this request, in accordance with the provisions of Article 47 of the Constitution, the statement said.

Spokesperson of the Government Samir Belfqih explained the reasons behind the dismissal of Minister Delegate Madiha Khayr, an Istiqlal Party politician, only two days after her appointment, saying that the dismissal came as an urgent response to the controversy surrounding her appointment and was based on a joint political and institutional assessment by the components of the government coalition. The decision was also intended to ensure the appropriate conditions for completing the formation of the new government, the spokesperson said in a statement issued on Sunday.

He explained that the government had followed the circulation of personal judicial and medical information bout Khayr after her appointment. He noted that the members of the government coalition had reaffirmed their shared commitment to the success of the government’s term and to redirecting public debate toward the government’s program and citizens’ expectations, with a focus on serving the public interest.

The government official stressed that the swift handling of this matter reflected the government’s assumption of its political and institutional responsibilities, enabling it to proceed with the constitutional process of forming the government through parliamentary investiture before turning its attention to implementing its program and fulfilling its commitments to citizens.

The minister delegate’s name had attracted widespread media attention following the circulation of an old medical document allegedly attributed to her, dating back to 2004, which some media reports linked to a previous judicial case.
