The 20th Forum of training directors from Francophone Central Banks opened in Nouakchott this Tuesday, 22 September 2026, with discussions focused on preparing staff for changing roles in the financial sector. Hosted by the Central Bank of Mauritania, it runs until 24 September.
Governor Mohamed Lemine Ould Dhehby said central banks needed training that would help them respond to technological change, cyber threats, climate risks and shifts in payment systems. The forum is also examining how banks can forecast staffing and skills needs.
Forum chair Anselme Imber said the meeting had drawn representatives of 22 central banks from 34 countries across three continents.
