Morocco’s national karate team won a total of 26 medals (five gold, 14 silver and seven bronze), finishing0 third in the final standings of the African Karate Championship, which concluded Sunday evening in Algeria.
The national team added to its medal tally on the fourth and final day of the championship, winning a gold medal in the men’s team Kata event through the trio of Abderrahmane Chakir, Adam Rchouq and Tijani Lamoum.
Meanwhile, the team comprising Aya En-Nesyry, Sanae Agalmam and Israa Al-Kahiri won the silver medal in the women’s Kata event.
Morocco’s team began its campaign at the championship with three bronze medals, before adding three gold, eight silver and two bronze medals on the second day of competition. On the third day, the national team secured one gold, five silver and two bronze medals.
According to the Royal Moroccan Karate Federation and Associated Disciplines, Morocco took part in this continental event with a sporting delegation comprising karatekas from different age categories, competing in Kumite and Kata events, in both the men’s and women’s competitions.
The federation also said that the national team had prepared for the continental championship through an intensive year-round training program at the Bouznika training center, focusing on strengthening physical, technical and mental preparation, alongside thorough preparation for the various competitions and all participating categories.
