Wanted Swedish National Arrested in Tangiers

Moroccan police officers arrested in Tangiers on Monday a Swedish national who was on an international arrest warrant issued by Swedish authorities, according to a police source.

The 27-year-old suspect was arrested after a check of the Interpol database revealed he was the subject of a red notice issued at the request of the National Central Bureau in Stockholm for his alleged involvement in international trafficking of drugs and psychotropic substances, as well as the unauthorized possession of automatic firearms, the source said.

The suspect has been subjected to extradition procedures and the National Central Bureau “Interpol Rabat,” affiliated with the General Directorate for National Security (DGSN), has been tasked with notifying its Swedish counterpart of this arrest as part of the extradition process.

This arrest is part of the Moroccan security services’ commitment to implementing international security cooperation mechanisms, particularly regarding the tracking and apprehension of individuals wanted internationally for cases linked to transnational crime.
