Royal Air Maroc, First African Carrier to Partner with Starlink to Provide Faster In-Flight Internet to Travelers

Royal Air Maroc has partnered with Elon Mask’s satellite internet subsidiary to equip its planes with high-speed, low-latency Wi-Fi (up to 500 Mbps) from gate-to-gate using low-Earth-orbit satellites, according to press reports.

Over 48 major global airlines—including Qatar Airways, Emirates, Lufthansa, and Royal Air Maroc—have partnered with Starlink to install and deliver high-speed connectivity enabling seamless video calls, gaming, and 4K streaming.

Royal Air Maroc is the first African airline company to bring to high-speed Starlink Wi-Fi to its entire fleet by 2027. Starlink of Space X has provided high-speed, reliable Internet on more than 200k flights and counting, keeping passengers connected from the moment they step onboard their aircraft and throughout their travels all around the world.

Starlink’s optical space lasers transmit data throughout the Starlink constellation, providing continuous service in areas far from SpaceX ground stations – providing coverage for flights over the open ocean and in polar regions.

Starlink’s constellation contains 9,000+ lasers transmiting 10Pb+ of daily data traffic. These lasers can sustain a 100Gbps connection per link and can connect up to 5,300+ km (3,300 mi) apart.
