Morocco signed on Wednesday the participation agreement in the International Stabilization Force (ISF) in Gaza in a move enabling the Kingdom to deploy officers of the Royal Armed Forces & security staff and establish a military field hospital in support of the humanitarian and security efforts made for Gazans.
The agreement was inked in Rabat upon the instruction of King Mohammed VI, Supreme Commander and Chief of General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) and Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee during a meeting between senior Moroccan officials and High Representative for Gaza of the Board of Peace Nickolay Mladenov, who was accompanied by a high-level delegation of officials from the Board and ISF Commander.
Moroccan foreign minister Nasser Bourita and Minister in charge of National Defense Administration Abdeltif Loudyi took part in the meeting in presence of Lt. Gen, Inspector General of the Royal Armed Forces & Commander of the South Zone, and Lt. General, Commander of the Royal Gendarmerie.
The agreement sets the legal framework governing the technical and operational aspects of Morocco’s participation in the international force.
A statement issued by National Defense Administration says the move demonstrates Morocco’s commitments made as founding member of the Board of Peace at the inaugural meeting of the Board held in Washington under the chairmanship U.S. President Donald Trump.
Morocco participation in ISF is also in line with the Kingdom’s deep commitment to the values of peace, cooperation, and international solidarity and will contribute to the achievement and establishment of peace and security in the Middle East region.
During the meeting, Moroccan officials highlighted the country’s experience in UN-led peacekeeping operations, as well as its ongoing commitment—both regionally and internationally—to peace and stability, emphasizing the Royal initiatives launched, particularly the regional integration projects with security and social progress impact.
For their part, senior officials of the Board of Peace and the ISF Commander commended Morocco’s participation in this peace initiative and its military, humanitarian and security contribution with the deployment officers, specialized staff and field hospital to provide medical services to Palestinians.
