The fifth edition of the High-Level Meeting of Heads of Counterterrorism and Security Agencies in Africa, “Marrakech Platform,” kicked off on Tuesday in El Jadida, under the co-chairmanship of Morocco and the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT).
The two-day event features the participation of some 40 African intelligence and security services, while 90 delegations from the Middle East, Europe, the Americas, and Asia are attending as observers.
Representatives of United Nations regional institutions are also taking part in this high-level meeting.
In a security context marred by persistent and evolving terrorist threats on the continent, this meeting builds on previous editions held in Marrakech (2022), Tangier (2023), Fez (2024), and Agadir (2025).
The interest shown in this edition of the “Marrakech Platform” by both African countries and international partners reaffirms its central role.
The Platform stands out as a key forum for fostering the exchange of expertise, bolstering regional cooperation, and identifying priorities for capacity-building in the fight against terrorism in Africa.
