CUREXO Medical Surgery Robots in Morocco, Gateway to MENA Market

Morocco is set to become the launch-pad of Korea’s CUREXO surgery robots in North Africa & Middle East region under an agreement sealed with Permedica, an Italian orthopedic medical device company, for the supply and sales of CUREXO surgical robots.

Under the agreement, the Korean medical robotics specialist will supply its robotic joint replacement system, CUVIS-joint, to Italy, and Morocco, a key hub for reaching the broader MENA region through Permedica’s distribution network.

CUVIS-joint is an active Knee Replacement robot that is capable of automatic cutting with the Navigation System. It enhances convenience in surgery by providing optimal alignment with an optical tracking sensor. Its six-axis articulated Robotic Arm secures a wider surgical area for superior surgical results.

The real-time gap-check function allows the surgical plan to be modified at any time, even during the surgery, and the Open Platform system lets users choose and use a variety of implants.

The Seoul-based company has successfully conducted lately a robotic orthopedic surgery demonstration using its joint surgery robot, “CUVIS-joint,” at The Mohammed VI Foundation for Science and Health (FM6SS) in Morocco.

FM6SS is a leading healthcare and education hub in Africa, encompassing large-scale hospitals, medical schools, and research facilities. The robotic-assisted surgery was carried out in collaboration with Permedica and FM6SS, effectively showcasing the precision of robotic surgery and the synergy with premium implants.

CUREXO is planning to expand its global footprint after having obtained U.S. FDA clearance and European CE MDR certification. The Korean Company will join efforts with FM6SS, one of Africa’s key medical hub institutions, to expand into the Middle East and Africa market.
