Bayt Mal Al-Qods Acharif Agency Hosts Iftar in Holy City

Bayt Mal Al-Qods Acharif Agency organized a Ramadan iftar on Friday evening in Al-Quds that was attended by several prominent figures from the city, Muslim and Christian religious leaders, and representatives from institutions and civil society organizations.

Notable participants in this iftar, hosted by the agency’s managing director Mohamed Salem Cherkaoui, included Adnan Al-Husseini, member of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) and head of the Al-Quds Affairs Department, Sheikh Mohammed Hussein, the Grand Mufti of Al-Quds and Palestine, Sheikh Ikrima Sabri, President of the Supreme Islamic Council, Hatem Abdelkader, Secretary General of the National Popular Congress of Al-Quds, Archbishop Atallah Hanna of Sebastia, and General Bilal Al-Natsheh, Secretary General of the National Popular Congress of Al-Quds.

“We celebrate with our brothers from Morocco, from Bayt Mal Al-Qods Acharif Agency, the arrival of the holy month of Ramadan. Each year, we make it a point to meet them during this blessed month when they come to Al-Quds to help those in need,” said Adnan Al-Husseini on this occasion.

He emphasized that this is “a commendable tradition” that the Agency works to maintain, expressing his appreciation for the visit of the Moroccan delegation to Al-Quds in the difficult circumstances the city is going through.

For his part, the Grand Mufti of Al-Quds praised the Agency’s role in supporting the city’s inhabitants in areas such as education, healthcare, and social work, particularly in humanitarian aid and assistance to needy families. He pointed out that these efforts are reflected in various activities, including in the Bedouin and rural communities, as well as through the distribution of aid to needy families.

He expressed his gratitude for these “blessed efforts in the Holy City and its surroundings, praiseworthy aid coming from Morocco, the King, the government, and the people,” and wished for the continued support for the people of Al-Quds.

Sheikh Ikrima Sabri also commended the efforts of the Agency, led by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, for the services provided to the people of Al-Quds during the holy month of Ramadan.

Hatem Abdelkader also thanked the Agency for organizing the iftar in the Holy City, affirming that it “has spared no effort to support Al-Quds, its inhabitants, and its institutions.” He added that the month of Ramadan is a renewed opportunity to recall the historical ties between the Moroccan people and the people of Al-Quds, Palestine, and the Holy City.

At the end of the iftar, food basket vouchers for Ramadan were distributed to associations and institutions benefiting from the Agency’s programs.

Bayt Mal Al-Qods Acharif Agency had launched its annual social aid campaign from the villages of Nabi Samuel and Al-Judeira, northwest of Al-Quds. This year’s campaign includes the distribution of 5,000 food baskets containing 22 essential items for needy Palestinian families in Al-Quds and surrounding villages.

The program also includes the provision of food supplies to charitable kitchens and social centers to prepare around 20,000 iftar meals (hot and cold) daily throughout the holy month, as well as the distribution of Eid Al-Fitr clothes to 500 orphans under the Agency’s care. Religious and cultural evenings, as well as training programs for local associations in areas such as marketing and human development, are also planned.
