King Mohammed VI backs the actions of U.S. President Donald Trump for the reconstruction of Gaza and calls for the launch of a genuine peace process in the Middle East.
The remarks were made by Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita, at the inaugural meeting of the Board of Peace, held in Washington this Thursday under the chairmanship of President Trump.
Bourita indicated that, on the instructions of King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, Morocco is committed to supporting the efforts of the Board of Peace in Gaza, particularly in the areas of security, health, and the promotion of tolerance and coexistence.
Bourita detailed, in this connection, the Kingdom’s commitment to deploy police officers and military personnel to the Gaza Strip, becoming the first Arab country to publicly announce such a deployment.
“Morocco is ready to deploy police officers and to train Gaza police (…) and will deploy senior officers within the joint military command” of the stabilization force in Gaza, Bourita specified before the Board of Peace.
On the humanitarian and social levels, Morocco plans to establish a field hospital to provide urgent medical services, alongside launching a comprehensive program to combat hate speech and promote the values of tolerance and coexistence.
These initiatives aim to address the psychological and social impacts of the conflict and to build bridges of trust among various societal components, the Moroccan top diplomat said, indicating that the Kingdom has already made the first-ever financial contribution to the Borad of Peace.
This step, he explained, reflects the Kingdom’s leading role in strengthening regional and international security and embodies its pledge to provide tangible and effective support.
Bourita noted further that President Trump’s Plan for Peace in Gaza has achieved a ceasefire, ended a tragic war, saved lives, and devised a pragmatic and forward-looking approach to the reconstruction of Gaza.
He also emphasized the need to fulfill the conditions of Phase II of President Trump’s Plan to ensure the success of peace efforts, and stressed that the stabilization and reconstruction of Gaza will allow for the launch of a genuine peace process based on the two-state solution. He insisted that maintaining stability in the West Bank is an essential pillar that cannot be overlooked to guarantee the success of any future peace efforts.
In conclusion, he underscored the importance of the Palestinian Authority, through its legitimate institutions, as a strategic option, while praising President Trump’s leadership as capable of achieving peace.
The inaugural meeting of the Board of Peace was chaired by President Donald Trump and was attended by U.S. Vice President J. D. Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, as well as Heads of State and Government and foreign ministers from nearly fifty countries.
