Tesla to enter the Moroccan market

Tesla will enter the Moroccan market on February 6 with a launch event at Casablanca’s AnfaPlace Mall, where it will showcase the Model 3 and Model Y, Electrek reported.

The event marks the automaker’s first official expansion into North Africa. Tesla’s Morocco website is now live.

Morocco’s car sales hit 179,013 units in 2024, up 12.8%, with first-half 2025 sales rising 22.4% to 103,391 units.

The country is also Africa’s leading EV market, with electric vehicle sales jumping 176.5% in the first half of 2025 and BYD holding the top spot.

Morocco’s EV fleet reached about 11,000 units in 2025 and is expected to exceed 18,000 this year.

The country has around 1,000 public chargers, and Tesla already operates Supercharger stations in several cities.

Morocco aims to expand its EV manufacturing capacity as its automotive sector grows into a major export industry. Tesla will compete with lower cost brands but may benefit from its premium positioning and established charging network.
