RSF Drone Strikes Kill 32 in Central and Southern Sudan on Monday

At least 32 people were killed and 86 others injured on Monday in drone strikes attributed to Sudan’s paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in central and southern parts of the country, according to local and medical sources.

In Sinja, Sinnar State, at least 27 people were killed and 73 wounded when an RSF drone struck a military base, reportedly targeting the Sudanese army’s 17th Infantry Division headquarters and nearby electricity and water facilities. Sources said the attack coincided with a high-level security meeting attended by regional governors and senior security officials. The Sinnar State government confirmed the strike and acknowledged civilian casualties, noting that army air defenses engaged the drone. The incident marked the most significant security development in Sinja since the army retook the city in November 2024.

Separately, in South Kordofan State, volunteer medics said five civilians were killed and 13 injured in a morning drone strike on the Kartala market in the Al-Jibal Al-Sitta area. Witnesses reported the attack occurred during peak trading hours with no military presence. The Sudan Doctors Network condemned the strike as a violation of international humanitarian law and held the RSF responsible.

The RSF has not commented on the market attack, though an adviser to the group warned of further escalation following the Sinja strike. Sudan has remained engulfed in conflict since April 15, 2023, with fighting between the Sudanese army and the RSF leaving tens of thousands dead and millions displaced.
