Casablanca launches professional sports infrastructure management company ahead of major tournaments
Authorities in the Casablanca-Settat region have officially ended direct involvement of elected officials and certain associations in managing sports infrastructure belonging to territorial collectivities. This major change materializes through creation of CasaRégionSport, the Casablanca Sports Facilities Company, with validation expected during an extraordinary municipal council session on December 2.
Regional governor Mohamed Mhidia thus closes the chapter on management previously handled by Sonarges and local development company Casa Events & Animation, opening the path to more professional and centralized governance. The new entity will manage, operate, maintain, renovate, and develop existing and future sports infrastructure in preparation for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations starting in weeks and the 2030 World Cup that Morocco will co-host with Portugal and Spain.
CasaRégionSport’s mission encompasses renting and operating sports facility halls and spaces, organizing sporting, cultural, and entertainment events, managing associated commercial activities including marketing, advertising, and sponsorship, ensuring ticketing, access control, and accreditation management, and concluding partnerships with federations, clubs, and public and private operators.
The company’s capital stands at 20 million dirhams, divided into 200,000 shares worth 100 dirhams each. Capital distribution allocates 50 percent to the state through the Ministry of Economy and Finance with 10 million dirhams, followed by Casablanca-Settat Region with 4.5 million dirhams, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation with 3.5 million dirhams, and Casablanca Municipality with 2 million dirhams.
The board of directors will be chaired by the regional governor and include representatives from the Ministry of Economy and Finance, Casablanca Municipality, and Casablanca-Settat Region. Governor Mhidia sent official correspondence to Municipal Council President Nabila Rmili on November 24 requesting inclusion of CasaRégionSport creation examination and voting on the extraordinary session agenda.
The ambition remains clear: equipping Casablanca with a professional management model aligned with international standards and adapted to major sporting events the region prepares to welcome.
