Adding to this momentum, Morocco received the prestigious “Destination of the Year” award at the 2025 Travel Awards ceremony in Brussels. This recognition reflects a comprehensive tourism offering that captures traveler imagination while attracting expert attention, positioning Morocco more prominently than ever on the international tourism stage.
International publications have highlighted multiple Moroccan cities across diverse categories. Marrakech features prominently in global winter destination lists and 2026 travel trends, securing third place in The Independent’s “7 Best Winter Sun Holiday Destinations” ranking. The city’s consistent appearance across worldwide compilations underscores its enduring appeal.
Fes, Morocco’s cultural capital and living museum, earned distinction in several African and international classifications, including sixth position in Travel and Tour World’s “Top Must-See Destinations for 2026.” The city’s historical significance continues attracting cultural tourism enthusiasts.
Volubilis claimed recognition among the world’s most emblematic Roman archaeological sites, ranking 19th in The Telegraph’s “50 Greatest Relics of the Roman Empire.” This placement highlights Morocco’s diverse heritage beyond Islamic and contemporary attractions.
Rabat confirmed its status as a major global destination through inclusion in National Geographic’s “Best Places in the World to Travel to in 2026,” reflecting the capital’s growing international profile. Meanwhile, Taghazout illustrated Morocco’s reputation as a world surfing reference, placing second in Surfer magazine’s “6 Best Places to Surf in November.”
