Direct air links between Morocco and Israel could soon return after they have been suspended on October7, 2023, according to Israeli media.
Israeli Channel 12 said Morocco will reopen its skies to Israeli travelers this week, making it the first Muslim-majority country to restore flights with Israel since the outbreak of the Gaza conflict.
The development follows a reported phone call earlier this month between the Israeli Minister of Transport and his Moroccan counterpart, attended by senior officials from both sides.
Israeli journalists have amplified the news on social media. Zvika Klein, editor-in-chief of the Jerusalem Post, wrote on X: “For the first time since October 7, Morocco will allow Israelis to visit, and flights to Morocco will resume tomorrow.” Jonathan Serero echoed the same, stating that direct flights are set to restart imminently.
As of now, no official confirmation has been issued by Moroccan or Israeli authorities, nor by airlines previously operating these routes. Royal Air Maroc and El Al list Israel as a destination on their websites, but no flights are currently available for booking this week. Arkia, which once connected Tel Aviv to Marrakech, also shows no scheduled services.
A source within Royal Air Maroc told Le360 that “no flights are programmed at this stage,” while leaving the door open for a possible restart soon.
