Counterterrorism: Minor arrested in Netherlands thanks to intelligence tips from Morocco’s DGST

Dutch police announced this week the arrest in Sittard (southern Netherlands) of a minor suspected of involvement in a case relating to the fight against terrorism, extremism, and radicalization, thanks to information provided by Morocco’s General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance (DGST).

Dutch police said, in a statement, that the suspect was identified thanks to information provided by Moroccan authorities as part of ongoing active security cooperation.

The minor who was arrested has been placed in police custody for further investigation. Given the sensitive nature of the case and the ongoing investigations, no further details can be disclosed at this stage, , the Dutch police said.

The police also underlined that the investigation is still in its early stages and that further action, including legal proceedings or additional arrests, cannot be ruled out.

This operation highlights the effectiveness of international coordination mechanisms and the central role of preventive intelligence in the early detection and neutralization of radicalization risks and potential terrorist acts.
