The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) has announced on Thursday, August 14, that its envoy, Hanna Tetteh, met with members of the Joint Military Commission 5+5 (JMC) in Tunis to review the progress of the Ceasefire Agreement and explore measures to sustain it.
Discussions centered on reinforcing stability in Libya through the agreement’s continued implementation.
According to UNSMIL, the JMC reaffirmed its commitment, along with that of its subcommittees, to uphold the ceasefire, including the withdrawal of foreign forces, fighters, and mercenaries. The Commission underscored that tangible progress in Libya’s political process is vital to advancing the country’s security track, and ensuring lasting peace.
