Morocco’s competition regulator investigates potential violations by Glovo
The Moroccan branch of the food delivery platform GlovoApp is under formal investigation by the Competition Council for suspected anti-competitive practices. The probe centers on allegations of abuse of dominant market position and the use of predatory pricing strategies.
Although the Council’s official statement did not name Glovo directly, sources confirm the company is the focus of the inquiry, which targets the digital meal delivery sector across both national and local markets.
The investigation came after a surprise inspection conducted on October 22, 2024, at Glovo’s Casablanca offices.
Authorized by the public prosecutor and carried out with the support of the national police, the operation aimed to uncover evidence of potential violations of competition law.
According to preliminary findings, Glovo is suspected of exploiting the economic dependence of partner restaurants and delivery workers and setting abnormally low prices to undercut competitors and deter market entry.
