Maroc PME launches responsible SME label as competitive differentiator

Maroc PME plans to launch new programs targeting very small, small, and medium enterprises as part of a new framework announced by the Ministry of Economic Inclusion, Small Enterprise, Employment, and Skills.

Alaoui Ismaili, President of Maroc PME, has detailed the changes and advantages that the new Responsible SME Label from CGEM will bring to Morocco’s SMEs.

“Today, we are at a strategic turning point, with advanced reflections on developing new products and projects in collaboration with our partners,” Ismaili explained during a CSR label ceremony at CGEM’s Casablanca headquarters.

Until now, CGEM offered a CSR label designed for large companies, but the need to adapt this tool to SME specificities led to developing a more accessible framework better suited to their needs. “There is particular interest today for Moroccan SMEs, hence the establishment of this label,” Ismaili noted.

The partnership between Maroc PME and CGEM aims to raise entrepreneur awareness about the importance of social responsibility and provide tools to structure governance and improve internal management. Through joint programs, companies will receive tailored support, facilitating label deployment and adoption of better management practices.

The new label distinguishes itself through its specific approach, designed to respond to SME realities and constraints. Unlike CGEM’s first CSR label primarily conceived for large companies, it aims to structure social responsibility actions within SMEs and enable them to implement approaches adapted to their size and organization.

“Its particularity is helping Moroccan SMEs initiate broader governance, strengthen their HR policies, and adopt sustainable practices,” Ismaili specified. Beyond management aspects, the Responsible SME Label also aims to promote integration of new environmental and social standards, making companies more resilient and better prepared for market requirements.

The label represents a genuine competitive advantage. At a time when domestic and international clients attach great importance to social responsibility criteria, this label becomes a market differentiator. “With equal competence, the difference is made with criteria like this. A company that adopts a CSR label reassures its partners and gains credibility,” Ismaili affirmed.

Certified companies will benefit from better visibility and access to new commercial opportunities, particularly in export markets where sustainability criteria are often prerequisites for market entry.
