France’s National Academy of Medicine & Academy of the Kingdom of Morocco step up cooperation ties

The Academy of the Kingdom of Morocco and France’s National Academy of Medicine have agreed to enhance partnership between the two institutions and foster cooperation ties between the two countries’ hospitals, medical schools and research institutes.

The agreement was inked Wednesday in Paris by Permanent Secretary of Morocco’s Academy Abdeljalil Lahjomri and President of the French National Academy Jean-Noël Fiessinger on the sidelines of a “French-Moroccan Health Day” organized by the two institutions.

Commenting the agreement, Lahjomri said it will contribute to advancing scientific cooperation between both parties through the organization of joint conferences, study days, training of PhD students in specific fields, such as neuroscience.

Echoing him, Fiessinger said the agreement aims to promote cooperation between hospitals, medical schools and research institutions in both countries which boast a longstanding partnership in the health sector, training, and research.

Last year, former health minister Khaled Ait Taleb told MPs that 14,000 Moroccan Doctors practice medicine overseas, including 6,000 physicians (internists, consultants, surgeons…) in France.
