Spain arrests suspected ISIS supporter in joint operation with Morocco’s DGST
Spanish authorities have arrested a suspected supporter of the terrorist group ISIS in Córdoba, southern Spain, in a counterterrorism operation carried out in coordination with Morocco’s General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST).
The suspect was identified through close intelligence-sharing between the Civil Guard and the DGST, with investigators citing his “intense activity” on social media in support of Daesh propaganda, the Spanish Civil Guard said on Thursday.
Held under a court order, the individual is considered a potential security threat due to his prolonged exposure to violent jihadist content, the Civil Guard added in a press release.
The arrest underscores ongoing counterterrorism cooperation between Spain and Morocco as both countries work to combat extremism and bolster regional security.
