Egypt launches ‘Alliance & Development’ Initiative to foster innovation, economic growth

Egypt’s Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research is advancing its “Alliance and Development” initiative as part of the National Policy for Sustainable Innovation, which was launched in February 2025.

This initiative aims to enhance the country’s scientific research capabilities, accelerate technological innovation, and strengthen the connection between academia and industry to create globally competitive products and services.

Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Ayman Ashour, stressed that the initiative is aligned with Egypt’s National Strategy for Higher Education and Scientific Research, focusing on talent development, technology transfer, funding access, and improving the research environment.

The initiative is built around four main pillars: talent development, technology transfer, access to funding, and the enhancement of the research environment. Additionally, it integrates three core components: improving research and development (R&D) capabilities, bridging the gap between R&D and innovation, and fostering innovation capabilities. These efforts are aimed at strengthening Egypt’s scientific and technological landscape, ensuring that research outcomes directly contribute to economic growth and industrial progress.

The “Alliance and Development” initiative also seeks to stimulate regional entrepreneurship by creating partnerships between universities, research institutions, industrial leaders, and government agencies, each focused on high-growth economic sectors.
