Moroccan Hospital Center successfully performs first tricuspid valve insufficiency surgery

A team of specialists at the Moulay Youssef Hospital Center in Rabat successfully performed on Tuesday the first-ever surgical procedure to treat tricuspid valve insufficiency.

This complex operation, which lasted nearly five hours, was supervised by Professor Mohamed Laaroussi, head of the cardiac surgery department at the Ibn Sina University Hospital in Rabat, in collaboration with a medical and nursing team from the Moulay Youssef Hospital Center, the Ministry of Health said in a press release.

The surgery was performed on a 63-year-old patient and required a high level of precision and concentration due to its complexity.

This medical breakthrough, the first of its kind, represents a significant advancement in the field of cardiac and vascular surgery in Morocco. Such procedures are usually carried out in specialized university hospital centers.

The success of this operation demonstrates the high level of expertise of Moroccan medical and nursing staff, who are capable of handling complex medical cases while adhering to the most rigorous quality standards, the Ministry said.

Moreover, this achievement highlights the advanced capabilities of the Moulay Youssef Hospital Center, further establishing its position as a leading medical institution in the Kingdom and a center of excellence in cardiology and cardiovascular surgery.

This medical feat also underscores the significant progress made in Morocco’s public healthcare services and their ability to provide high-quality medical care that meets citizens’ needs, the Ministry stressed.
