Morocco guest of honor at Paris Book fair and agriculture expo
Morocco has received the distinction of being the guest of honor of two international events in Paris, the book fair and the agricultural exhibition.
French minister Rachid Dati said Morocco will be celebrated in the Paris book fair on April 11-13.
She made the announcement ahead of her visit to Morocco’s Sahara where she will inaugurate a French cultural Institute.
Morocco will also be the first guest of honor at the Paris Agricultural exhibition, as organizers give an international aspect to the event, scheduled on Feb 22-Mar 2.
Presenting this major event recently in Paris, French Minister of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty Annie Genevard emphasized that this is the first time the show is honoring a foreign country’s agriculture.
“Our farmers have much to learn from each other. French agriculture, also facing climate-related challenges, can greatly benefit from Morocco’s experience, especially in the area of water management,” Genevard stated, describing Morocco as “a partner and friend of France.”
Head of the exhibition, Jérôme Despey said Morocco was a “friendly country,” with whom France has many farming partnerships.
Jérôme Despey highlighted that this year, the event organizers made “a heartfelt and forward-thinking choice” by selecting Morocco as the guest of honor. “We’ve been planning this choice for five years, and today we’re proud to have made it a reality.”
Morocco will be present at this major event with a central pavilion of 476 m², showcasing, among other things, certified products from Moroccan terroirs, crafted by cooperatives with centuries-old expertise, as well as agricultural products that reflect the richness and diversity of this sector.
