Sahara: Guatemala reaffirms steadfast support for Morocco’s realistic & credible autonomy plan
The Government of Guatemala has lauded the Autonomy plan offered by Morocco for a lasting resolution of the Sahara regional conflict, saying the plan offers a realistic and credible solution respecting the Kingdom’s territorial integrity and national sovereignty.
The supportive stand was voiced Tuesday in Rabat by Deputy Foreign Minister of this Central American country Mónica Bolaños following her talks with Moroccan foreign minister Nasser Bourita.
She also reiterated her country’s firm support for the Kingdom’s efforts to achieve a peaceful, enduring and mutually acceptable political solution to the Sahara issue.
Ms. Mónica Bolaños recalled the opening of a Guatemalan Consulate in Dakhla in 2022, a move which confirms recognition of the Moroccanness of the Sahara by this Central American country whose partnership with the North African Kingdom is gaining momentum.
