Morocco, Cape Verde finalizing agreement on military cooperation

Morocco and Cape Verde are finalizing an agreement on military cooperation meant to enhance expertise sharing in the military field and enshrine the solid ties of friendship and mutual respect linking the two countries.

The military cooperation agreement which is being finalized was brought up at a meeting in Rabat Friday between Minister in charge of National Defense Administration, Abdeltif Loudyi, and Cabo Verde’s State Minister of Defense Janine Tatiana Santos Lelis.

The meeting was attended by the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of Cape Verde, the visiting minister’s high-ranking accompanying delegation, and Lieutenant General Mohammed Berrid, FAR Inspector General and Commander of the South Zone.

The two parties explored ways to upgrade their cooperation in areas of common interest, particularly in sharing expertise in the military field, and expressed their shared ambition to strengthen relations through the forthcoming signature of the agreement on military cooperation.

Loudyi underlined Morocco’s efforts to foster regional stability and security, and highlighted the royal initiative launched by King Mohammed VI to transform Africa’s Atlantic seaboard into a hub for economic integration, peace and prosperity, involving all Atlantic and Sahel countries.

For her part, the Cabo Verdean minister emphasized the high priority of the partnership with the Kingdom, and voiced her admiration for the various South-South and regional cooperation initiatives benefiting the African continent, launched under the leadership of the King of Morocco.
