Morocco’s carrier resumes flights to Brazil, opens new Casablanca-Toronto direct route

Morocco’s Royal Air Maroc has resumed its direct flight from Casablanca to Sao Paulo on Saturday and inaugurated a new direct route from Casablanca to the Canadian city of Toronto on Sunday.

The flight to Sao Paulo marked a long-awaited resumption of direct services between Morocco and Brazil, which were suspended for five years due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Some 300 passengers aboard the Dreamliner were warmly welcomed at Guarulhos international airport. The aircraft was given the traditional Water Salute, at a ceremony attended by Brazilian tourism officials and stakeholders.

The reopening of this strategic link, connecting the two economic capitals, meets a growing demand from businessmen and tourists on both sides of the Atlantic, and reflects Morocco and Brazil’s long-standing partnership.

RAM will operate three weekly flights from Casablanca on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays and back from Sao Paulo on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

The routes are operated by Boeing 787 Dreamliners, new-generation aircraft renowned for their high comfort and safety as well as low carbon footprint.

The code-share agreement signed with GOL Linhas Aéreas, Brazil’s leading airline, will extend connectivity to other cities in Brazil and Morocco, RAM’s Regional Director Othman Baba said.

He noted that passengers will have access from the Casablanca hub to a network of 97 destinations worldwide, including Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and soon Asia, with the upcoming opening of a route to Beijing.
On Saturday, RAM inaugurated its new direct route from Casablanca to the Canadian city of Toronto. RAM will service three weekly flights to Toronto on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, also using Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.

The new Casablanca-Toronto route addresses a long-awaited need for Moroccans settled in Canada and complements the historic Casablanca-Montreal route, which has been operational since 1975. It also strengthens Royal Air Maroc’s “Americas” network, which currently includes direct flights connecting its Casablanca hub to New York, Washington, Miami, and São Paulo.

The relaunch of these services is part of the carrier’s flagship strategy, backing the Kingdom’s major projects, notably the Football World Cup 2030, organized jointly by Morocco, Spain and Portugal.
