President of Djibouti sends message to King Mohammed VI
President of Djibouti, Ismaïl Omar Guelleh, has sent a written message to King Mohammed VI.
The message was handed over by Djibouti’s Foreign Minister, Mahamoud Ali Youssouf, to his Moroccan peer Nasser Bourita at a meeting in Rabat Tuesday.
In a statement to the press following the meeting, Youssouf said that Djibouti and Morocco are bound by solid ties based on mutual respect and pan-Arab and Islamic brotherhood. The two countries enjoy wise leadership under the guidance of their leaders, who enshrine efforts to establish the foundations of good governance and development, for the well-being and prosperity of their peoples, he said.
The Kingdom has spared no effort in supporting Djibouti in its development process, particularly in higher education, by opening the doors of its universities to Djiboutian students, he stressed, before surveying the various areas of cooperation between the two countries, notably banking, construction, investment, tourism and the hotel industry.
In this respect, Djibouti’s top diplomat said that his country considers Morocco as a development model and strives to benefit from its experience.
He also mentioned his bid for the position of Chairperson of the African Union Commission, in succession of Moussa Mohamed Faki, whose mandate ends next February, underlining that he would like to benefit from Morocco’s support in his bid.
He also underlined the many complex challenges facing the continent, expressing his awareness of the scale of the responsibility and aspirations of African peoples and countries.
