MP Industry Group joins Morocco’s growing automotive ecosystem
MP Industry Group, a subsidiary of the Romanian MEN Industry Group—has inaugurated its first plant in Tangier Automotive City, Northern Morocco.
The plant, built over a 35,000 m2 area, will produce automotive plastic components using advanced injection molding techniques. Nearly $40 million has been invested in this facility which comes to enhance further Morocco’s position as a competitive hub for automotive manufacturing.
The inauguration ceremony was held Friday in presence of Ryad Mezzour, Morocco’s Minister of Industry, Ahmed Bennis, General Director of Tanger Med Zones (TMZ), Jean Drugescu, CEO of Metaplast & MP Industry Group, Dan Iacoban, General of MP Industry Group Morocco and Mohamed Bachiri, General Director of Renault Group Morocco.
Morocco is becoming a global powerhouse in the automotive industry thanks to its political stability, geostrategic position, economic performance, and incentives to investors.
Morocco’s automotive sector, which employs over 222,000 skilled workers, is a strategic sector for the country’s economy. The sector has grown at an exponential rate over the last decade, enabling the Kingdom to become the leader in Africa in automotive manufacturing and exports.
With over 250 international suppliers and a 60% integration rate, the sector produces annually 700,000 vehicles. In 2023, exports surged by 27%, reaching $14 billion.
