Means to strengthen global human rights system discussed in Rabat
Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Bourita, held talks on Friday in Rabat with the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk.
The talks were held on the sidelines of the UNHRC retreat, held on November 21-22 at the initiative of the Moroccan Presidency of the HRC.
At their talks, Bourita and the UN High Commissioner discussed a number of issues of common interest, including the strengthening of the global human rights system and the promotion and protection of human rights.
The two-day retreat that was attended by ambassadors, permanent representatives from HRC member States, and representatives of UN regional and political groups, addressed key challenges in human rights protection, and explored potential reforms to the Human Rights Council, the UN’s central human rights body.
The gathering marks another step in the ongoing dialogue on strengthening the global human rights system.
