Libya offers assistance to Spain after devastating floods in Valencia
The Spanish magazine ‘Atalayar’ reported on November 7 that the Libyan Government extended condolences to those affected by recent floods in Spain’s Valencia region, and offered its assistance in the ongoing rescue efforts.
The severe flooding, which struck the Spanish Levante region last week, especially impacted Valencia and sparked a strong wave of international solidarity, the magazine noted. Libya’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation sent a letter to the Spanish Government, offering the support of its armed forces and personnel.
Libya expressed gratitude for Spain’s extensive rescue and relief efforts following the catastrophic floods that devastated Derna and eastern Libya in September 2023. The Libyan government highlighted its readiness to aid in Spain’s rescue operations, reflecting the longstanding friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
The magazine noted that Libya’s response was especially empathetic, given its recent experience with similar devastation. During the Derna crisis, Spain had promptly deployed specialized relief teams, sent several tons of supplies, and provided over one million euros in humanitarian aid through the Spanish Cooperation Agency and the International Development Agency.
