Comoros president survives knife attack
Comoros president Azali Assoumani survived a knife attack sustaining injuries in Itsandra, a town just north of the capital Moroni.
Azali was attacked as he attended a funeral, according to the presidency. The motive for the attack has not yet been determined
The attacker was a 24-year-old Policeman who was later found dead in his cell.
As for the 65-year-old president, he was “doing well. He has no health problems, he is out of danger. A few stitches were given,” energy minister Aboubacar Saïd Anli was quoted by AFP news agency as saying.
The attacker injured the president’s hand in the stabbing, before being stopped by one of the mourners, witnesses told the news agency.
