Air Senegal to exit key international routes amid restructuring

Air Senegal plans to suspend flights to seven international destinations as it operates a strategic overhaul of its operations.

The airline will operate its last transatlantic flight to New York on Sept 15, a once twice a week route using Airbus A340-300.

The airline has been grappling with operational difficulties and finding it challenging to sustain profitability on certain long-haul and regional routes.

In a brief statement, Air Senegal emphasized that these route suspensions would help it “optimize its network” and better serve its passengers.

The airline will no longer operate in Cameroon, Gabon, Italy, Spain, or the US. However, it will continue serving France through direct flights to Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport.
