French Club PSG sets up Football Academy in Morocco
French football club, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), has set up an academy in Casablanca, Morocco, to foster further the club’s sporting ties with Moroccan youth.
The academy’s inauguration is set for September 2024, said PSG in a press release. The bond between PSG and Morocco is built on a shared passion for football and Moroccan defender Achraf Hakimi’s significant role at the club.
With 4.9 million Moroccan followers on social media, the country ranks as the 10th largest supporter base for PSG. In the broader region, PSG enjoys the loyalty of 18.6 million fans, accounting for 12% of the club’s total global following of 214 million.
Establishing the PSG Academy in Casablanca strengthens this connection and underscores PSG’s commitment to nurturing football talent in Morocco.
Located in Tamaris, Casablanca’ suburbs, the academy will feature various football pitches, including a full-size 11-a-side field and smaller 5-a-side, 7-a-side, and 9-a-side pitches.
It will cater to boys and girls aged 4 to 18, providing top-tier training and facilities. The site will also offer amenities such as a café and three padel courts to support players and their families.
